Is your song missing?

I am an instrument of exaltation
And I was born to lift Your name above all names .
You hear the melody of all creation
But there's a song of praise that only I can bring.
Who else is worthy? Who else is worthy?
There is no one, only You, Jesus.
You are the infinite God of the ages
Yet You chose to make my heart Your dwelling place.
You healed my brokenness, showed me Your glory
So I have songs of thanks not even angels sing.

These are the opening lyrics for one of my favourite worship songs, "Who Else Is Worthy?" by the brilliant young song-writer and worship leader Joel Barber (Chroma Church, Leicester). Apart from being a wonderful song of worship to Jesus, these words provoke us in a new way!

When I read this, I am provoked in two ways. Firstly, we experience something that no other created being looking down from the heavens can - we experience salvation. Angels do not have to repent and be "saved" (apart from the fallen ones) to know God's presence. They stand in His throne room and worship and they come and go freely from the courts of the Most High. We often struggle to raise our song on a Sunday morning or to know His presence in our daily devotional times, but we have a song to sing that angels will never know; we have a song of praise to our Saviour for our salvation, songs of thanksgiving for a life saved and redeemed by the blood of the sinless Lamb of God!

The second way these words provoke and challenge me is that in amongst all the billions of people who have lived and who will ever live, I am a unique creation of my Heavenly Father. There is no-one the same as me (some rejoice at that!). The path my life has taken, the ways in which God drew me towards Himself, the way in which I crawled my way into the Kingdom and the paths He has led me down since I surrendered to Him - all these are unique to me, as the same are unique for you and for every other child of God.

Because of this, my testimony, my story, my "song" is also unique and it is equally worthy of being heard and told as anyone else's is.

Making this a much longer comment by adding a load of blah blah rubbish as if I was making an intelligent comment to what the all-wise Pensive Pastor has just posted.

So what else can I say about this. It's a great song and should be at the top of everyone's playlist.
