God is not my equal. He is God and He holds the power of life and death.
My sins and sinful nature mean I only deserve death. It is only God's mercy and grace - completely undeserved by me - that leads Him to reach out to me in love and offer me forgiveness and life through Jesus.
My response to this is not to expect Him to do things my way or in ways that I like.
My response is to surrender my life to Him and serve Him, grateful beyond measure that He loves me enough to forgive my sins and give me the expectation of being with Him forever.
So I have to make choices - am I going to give up all my old attitudes, ways of doing things, harmful relationships, doubtful habits - in order to have a closer relationship with Him?
In short - God owes you nothing, you owe Him everything. Some of your problems and pain will only be sorted when you have given yourself completely to Him and allowed Him to do what He wants in your life.
So today I am going to remember Jesus' sacrifice for me by sharing bread and wine that represent His body and blood.
And today I give back to Him in love a proportion of what He has blessed me with financially as a token that my life is now His.
Will you join me and acknowledge His Lordship over your life?
